Polk County claims third straight win in downing Madison

Polk County continued its winning ways Tuesday, sweeping Madison in straight sets 25-12, 25-20, 25-19 in Western Highlands Conference volleyball action.

The Wolverines (6-3, 3-1) extended their winning streak to three matches while showcasing a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort throughout the contest.

Akeela Cunningham led the charge with a solid all-around performance, posting 13 kills, five aces and 14 digs. Senior setter Charley Dusenbury finished with 18 assists while adding eight digs and three kills.

Sophomore Reeve Carroll continued her emergence as a key contributor, notching five kills, eight digs and adding both a block and an ace. The Wolverines’ depth was on display as Abby Lewis contributed 10 assists and three aces, while Junie Mitchell anchored the defense with nine digs.

Zulem Ramirez added six digs while Riyah Schroyer finished with four. Aslyn Scruggs added four digs and an ace.

The victory strengthens Polk County’s position in the Western Highlands Conference standings as they improve to 3-1 in league play. Madison falls to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

The Wolverines face a quick turnaround as they travel to A.C. Reynolds on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup.
