Polk County battled back after dropping the first two sets Thursday, but defending Western Highlands Conference champion Owen held off the Wolverines for a four-set victory in the conference opener at Polk County.
The Warhorses took a 25-15, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 win, with senior Mia Roland, a Tennessee softball commit, leading the Owen attack.
After falling 25-15 in the opening set, Polk stayed much closer in the second before Owen claimed the final points for a 25-22 win and a 2-0 match lead.

The Wolverines responded in the third, extending the match with a 25-20 victory. Owen (4-2, 1-0) answered in the fourth, taking a 25-19 win to finish the match.
Reeve Carroll led Polk County with 13 kills and 21 digs, while Beija Olivari added 10 kills and 20 digs.
Claire Lawrence paced the defense with 23 digs. Abby Lewis had 17 assists and 15 digs, while Kenzie Alm added 10 assists, 13 digs and four aces.
The loss dropped the Wolverines to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in Western Highlands Conference play. Polk County travels to Mitchell on Tuesday.
