Polk County junior Sophia Overholt recorded the 1,000th dig of her career during Tuesday’s 1A West Regional final win over Highland Tech.
Overholt needed just eight digs entering the match to reach the milestone. She recorded 20 in helping the Wolverines advance to their first state final since 2018.
Overholt is the first Polk County player to reach 1,000 digs since Ansley Lynch did so during the 2018 1A playoffs.
The junior also has 728 career kills and will have a shot at reaching 1,000 there in her senior season. Reagan Waddell is the last Wolverine player to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
