Polk County shook off a narrow third-set loss Wednesday and answered with a strong finish, defeating East Rutherford 25-11, 25-19, 24-26, 25-17 in a nonconference match in Bostic.
The Wolverines controlled the first two sets, allowing just 30 total points while building a 2-0 match lead. East Rutherford extended the match by edging Polk 26-24 in the third, but the Wolverines responded with a 25-17 victory in the fourth to close out the win.
Beija Olivari led a productive Polk attack with 18 kills, hitting .341 on 41 swings. Reeve Carroll added 11 kills while hitting .435.

Polk also got efficient work from Amiyah Waters and Elena Greve, who each finished with six kills. Waters had no attack errors on 11 swings, hitting .545, while Greve hit .500.
Abby Lewis handed out 23 assists, with Kenzie Alm adding 18. Polk finished with 52 kills and hit .353 as a team.
The Wolverines also applied pressure from the service line with 14 aces. Lewis and Carroll each served four aces, with Jessie Bradley adding three.
Polk County improved to 14-11 overall with the victory. East Rutherford fell to 10-12.
The Wolverines travel to Avery on Thursday for a Western Highlands Conference match.
