Mitchell held off a determined Polk County squad on Tuesday, earning a three-set win in junior varsity volleyball action in Bakersville.
The Mountaineers posted a 25-20, 18-25, 25-19 win, dropping Polk County to 6-10 overall, 3-5 in Western Highlands Conference matches.
Ashton Capozzi had seven kills, 16 digs and six aces for Polk County, which also got six kills and 14 digs from Morgan Stott. Bella Bowser had nine digs and four aces and Amber Hall had 16 assists and 10 digs.
