Hoop scrimmages, volleyball matches highlight Wolverines’ return from break

Polk County athletes will begin to return from the holiday break on Tuesday with a handful of events scheduled for the week ahead.

Polk County’s girls basketball team will travel Tuesday afternoon to T.C. Roberson for a preseason scrimmage. Though missing a couple of players, head coach Brandy Alm will get a first look at her Wolverines in action against an opponent.

Polk County’s volleyball team will resume its regular season on Wednesday, hosting Avery in a Western Highlands Conference match. Junior varsity action is set for 11 a.m., with the varsity to follow. Both matches will be shown live on the NFHS Network.

Polk’s boys basketball team is then scheduled to make its preseason debut Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., hosting Chase for a scrimmage. That will also be shown live on the NFHS Network.

The Wolverine volleyball program then concludes the week on Saturday with another home conference match as Owen visits for the first athletic event of 2021. Junior varsity action is set for noon, with the varsity to follow. Both matches will be shown on the NFHS Network.
