East Rutherford’s junior varsity spoiled Polk County’s season opener on Thursday, handing the Wolverines a 2-0 loss in volleyball play in Bostic.
East Rutherford took a 25-27, 25-16 win as Polk finally hit the court in a 2020 season delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Elysia Smith had four kills, six assists, two aces and two digs for Polk County, with Zaelea Eller recording six digs, six assists and three kills. Cameron Ward had five kills and three digs.
Annslee Kilgore finished with 11 digs, with Lisa Jones adding seven digs and Anna Morton and Anna Jackson each posting five.
The Wolverines return to action on Monday, traveling to East Henderson.
