Polk County's Junie Mitchell, Louisa Wood and Akeela Cunningham

Crest outlasted Polk County’s junior varsity on Thursday, taking a hard-fought 2-1 victory in a non-conference matchup in Shelby.

The Chargers notched a 26-24, 17-25, 15-9 victory, improving to 2-0 on the season. The Wolverines dropped to 0-2.

Louisa Wood had five kills and two blocks for Polk County, with Beija Olivari adding four kills and nine digs. Akeela Cunningham finished with three kills and seven digs.

Junie Mitchell recorded 14 digs, with Aslyn Scruggs posting seven digs and eight assists. Riyah Schroyer had six assists and seven digs.

Polk County is set to make its home debut on Tuesday, hosting Rosman in a 5 p.m. matchup that will also be streamed live on NFHS Network.
