Bearcats snap Polk’s conference streak in four-set win

Hendersonville snapped Polk County’s 17-match conference winning streak Tuesday, taking a 3-1 win over the Wolverines in a Western Highlands Conference match in Hendersonville.

For Polk County (16-5, 11-1), it marked its first WHC defeat since losing last year at Hendersonville. The Wolverines are 20-2 in league play over the past two seasons.

Hendersonville (13-6, 10-2) took a 22-25, 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 victory in the final conference match of the year for both teams. Polk County clinched the WHC regular-season title on Monday with its win over Owen; Hendersonville wrapped up second place in the league with Tuesday’s win.

Ashley Love had eight kills, 20 digs and two aces to lead Polk, which also got 10 kills and 15 digs from Reagan Waddell and nine kills and 12 digs from Addie Lynch. Kendall Hall had 17 digs, Lauren Ketwitz had 10 digs and Savannah Ross had 32 assists, 11 digs and three aces.

Polk County continues its four-match road trip to end the regular season on Thursday, visiting Asheville Christian Academy.
