Polk County’s junior varsity volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Asheville Christian Academy on Wednesday, falling 25-15, 25-17 in non-conference action at Polk County.
The loss moves the Wolverines to 3-2 on the season as they prepare to begin Western Highlands Conference play next week.
Despite the setback, several Wolverines delivered solid defensive performances. Claire Lawrence, a sophomore, led the team with 11 digs and added four kills, while Camdyn Israel-Garrett contributed eight digs and five assists. Olivia Kirk and Ava Evans recorded nine and eight digs respectively.

Emily Nance added balanced production with a kill, an ace and five digs, while Madalyn Varnadore contributed across the stat sheet with a kill, an ace and four digs. Lorali Wing recorded a block for the Wolverines.
The match marked Polk County’s final tune-up before conference play begins. The Wolverines will look to bounce back when they host Mitchell on Tuesday in their Western Highlands Conference opener. That match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
