Asheville Christian holds off Polk County in four-set battle

Polk County answered an opening-set loss in emphatic fashion Tuesday, but Asheville Christian Academy regained control to earn a four-set victory in Swannanoa.

The Lions, now 7-1, took the opening set 25-16 before the Wolverines responded with a dominant 25-10 win in the second. ACA bounced back to take the third set 25-15, then held off Polk 25-23 in the fourth to complete the 3-1 victory.

Beija Olivari led Polk County at the net with 13 kills while adding 10 digs and two aces. Reeve Carroll had six kills and a team-high 23 digs, with Claire Lawrence adding 22 digs.

Kenzie Alm finished with five kills, 15 assists and eight digs, while Abby Lewis had four kills, 11 assists and six digs. Lawrence and Carroll each served two aces.

The Wolverines fell to 3-2 and will return home Thursday to face Owen in the opening match of Western Highlands Conference play.
