Asheville Christian edges Polk County JVs in straight sets

Polk County’s JV volleyball team couldn’t overcome a pair of close sets Monday night, falling to Asheville Christian Academy 2-0 in non-conference action in Swannanoa.

The 25-19, 26-24 loss drops the Wolverines to 9-10 on the season.

Despite the defeat, the Wolverines received strong individual efforts across the floor. Sophomore Claire Lawrence paced the offense with five kills while adding one ace and 13 digs in a solid all-around performance. Olivia Kirk and Ava Evans each recorded double-digit digs with 12 and 10, respectively. Evans added an ace to her stat line.

Setter Camdyn Israel-Garrett paced the offense with 12 assists while contributing eight digs and one kill. Sophomore Madalyn Varnadore provided additional offensive support with three kills and two digs.

Polk County will look to bounce back Thursday when it returns to conference play, hosting Avery in a Western Highlands Conference matchup.
