Polk County will open its quest for a 2A state volleyball championship on Saturday at home against Franklin according to official brackets released Thursday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
Saturday’s match with the Panthers (9-14) will start at 2 p.m. Note that for all home playoff games, only NCHSAA passes will be accepted. Local passes such as Polk County High School passes, Polk County staff IDs and Western Highlands Conference passes will not be accepted. All tickets will be $6 per NCHSAA rules. No student tickets will be sold.
The Wolverines (17-7) enter the postseason seeded fifth in the 2A West bracket. With a first-round win, Polk County could host West Stanly, which enters the playoffs with a 21-5 record, in the second round.

If the Wolverines reach the third round, they would likely face a trip to Brevard. Polk lost a five-set match at Brevard on Wednesday and a four-set match to the Blue Devils at home earlier this season.
