Antonio Simpson’s 100-meter win in a regional qualifying time led Polk County’s efforts Thursday at the Tri-City Invitational track and field meet at R-S Central.

Simpson won the 100 in a time of 11.14, besting the regional standard of 11.24.

His win was one of several individual event triumphs on a cool and windy afternoon for the Wolverines as the Polk boys placed third overall behind R-S Central and Mountain Heritage and the Polk girls took third behind R-S Central and Avery.

Other event winners included:

  • Karsyn Huskey, who pulled away early to top R-S Central standout Brooke Hope and win the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.91.
  • Aaron Dickey, who soared 19-11 to win the long jump.
  • Polk’s 4×200-meter boys relay time, which finished in 1:34.28 to best Chase by two seconds.
  • Davis Young, who topped the 3200-meter field with a time of 11:01.44.
