Polk quartet set to compete in 2A state track and field championships

A quartet of Polk County athletes will look Saturday to bring home a title from the 2023 NCHSAA 2A Track & Field State Championship in Greensboro.

The state meet will begin at 10 a.m. on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. The 4A meet will be held at the same time, making for a day and evening full of competition.

Wolverine athletes who will be in action Saturday include:

  • Leah Dotson, the 2A West Regional champion in the pole vault who enters with the second best qualifying mark at 8-0
  • Nathanal Rhein, who has the eighth best qualifying time in the 300-meter hurdles at 41.11
  • Mia Bradley, whose jump of 4-10 is the 10th best qualifying mark in the high jump
  • Sophia Overholt, who enters with the 13st fastest time in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.97
