Polk Middle track teams notch several wins at Hendersonville meet

Polk County Middle’s boys and girls track and field teams scored a handful of individual event victories at Tuesday’s middle school track meet at Hendersonville High School.

Sophie Wilson won the shot put (30-8) while also taking second in the discus (63-9). Addie Blackwell won the long jump (13-1), and Alia Vorbe tied for first in the 100 hurdles with Hendersonville’s Amarii Carson, both finishing in 18.6 seconds.

The Wolverine boys won the 4×400 relay in 4:19.7, edging Rugby Middle (4:21.0) and Hendersonville Middle (4:33.5), and took third in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:49.2. Rhys Jackson won the boys 800 meters in 2:22.2, defeating Brevard’s Kaleb Campbell (2:24.2) and Hendersonville’s Alex Wrestler (2:25.1).

Foster Meyer placed third in the 100 (12.8), while Ian Lewis finished third in the 200 (25.6) and Ty Searcy was ninth (28.3).

Angel Roman took third in the triple jump (30-7), Liam Tessnair was seventh (28-2) and Lukas Atkins placed fourth in the long jump (15-9).

Quinn Schilling finished seventh in the discus (82-1), EJ Kassel was eighth in shot put (29-8), and Charlie Erdesky placed fifth in high jump (4-10).

The Polk County girls placed second in both the 4×100 relay (59.6) and 4×200 relay (2:06.2), and third in the 4×400 relay (5:30.0).

Blackwell added a sixth-place finish in the 800 (3:13.9), while Zoey Conner took seventh in shot put (24-9).

Macie Pegg finished third in the triple jump (22-4) and tied for fifth in discus (43-4). Lilly Kovac placed 10th in the 100 hurdles (23.8).

Nora Williams placed fifth in the 1600 (6:54.6), Izzie Irwin was sixth (6:58.0), and Addison Steffel took seventh in the 800 (3:16.0).

Hadley Pereira finished fourth in the 100 (14.6), TyLaisha Johnson was fifth (14.8), Nhya Simmons placed third in the 200 (31.0), and Ethne Broyles tied for fourth (32.4).

Maddie Eller took third in the 400 (1:16.4) and Finley Mitchell was ninth (1:25.2).

Hendersonville, Rugby, Brevard and Flat Rock also competed in the meet. Team scores were not available.
