A trio of Polk County runners will take on some of the region’s best indoor track competitors at this weekend’s David Oliver Classic at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

Sean Doyle, Jacob Wolfe and Mitchell Brown will compete in the two-day event, which features top runners from North Carolina as well as some surrounding states.

Doyle received an invitation to take part in the Elite 800-meter race on Saturday afternoon. He has the fastest seed time in the nine-man field with a time of 1:55.26. Doyle will face tough competition from Danny Shaughnessy of Hilton Head, S.C. and Ryan Buscaglia of Richmond, Va.

Wolfe will compete in the 1000-meter run, where his entry time of 2:38.84 has him seeded ninth in the field. That race is slated for Saturday morning.

Brown is seeded 40th in the 3200-meter run, which is scheduled for Friday night, with a time of 10:26.48. He’s also the 54th seed in the 1000-meter field with a time of 2:48.80.

All three runners will be back at JDL next weekend to take part in the state 2A/1A indoor track championships.
