Polk County will conclude its indoor track season on Saturday at the
North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s indoor track and field championships at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

Wolverines who qualified for the state meet will begin competition in the 2A/1A championships on Saturday at 9 a.m. at JDL.

For the first time, the state indoor meet will be broadcast live via the Internet. MileSplit.com and NCRunners.com have teamed to make available broadcasts of the 4A, 3A and 2A/1A state meets. The broadcast will show live coverage of all track events, with coverage moving to field events between races.

Polk County athletes who posted qualifying performances for the state meet, along with their seeding for the state meet and qualifying effort, include:

Shot put: Luke Sellers, 6th, 47-9; Ryan Heider, 14, 42-0

Pole vault: Jake Justice, 1st, 14-6

4×800-meter relay: Polk County (Matias Akers, Jack Derkach, Caleb Potter, Braxton Edwards), 18th, 9:05.07

1600-meter run: Caleb Potter, 9th, 4:37.10

500-meter run: Jack Derkach, 13th, 1:09.78

3200-meter run: Caleb Potter, 14th, 10:13.98

Long jump: Anna McFadden, 15th, 15-3

Pole vault: Reese Alley, 10th, 8-6

4×200-meter relay: Polk County (Madison Geddings, Emma Brunell, Tana Harris, Julianna Robbins), 3rd, 1:52.42
