Polk athletes gear up for state indoor track championships

Polk County athletes will chase indoor track and field state championships for the first time in two years as the state 2A/1A meet is set for Friday at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

No state meet was held last spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But a number of Wolverine competitors will hit the JDL circuit beginning at 4 p.m. The meet is scheduled to stream live on NFHS Network.

Polk County has two entries listed as the top seed in an event – the girls 4×400-meter relay squad, which enters with a top time of 4:21.28, and Braxton Edwards, who has the top listed time in the 500-meter run.
