Leah Dotson won the girls pole vault to highlight Polk County’s performance at Thursday’s Tryon Indoor #8 meet at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Dotson cleared 7 feet, 9 inches to share the championship with Hickory Christian Academy’s Adley Drum and Franklin’s Avynlee Anderson.
The Wolverine boys and girls each finished eighth in their respective team standings. The boys scored 25 points in a 15-team field won by Franklin (164), followed by Pisgah (87) and Brevard (48). The girls tallied 26 points in an 11-team field won by Franklin (190.5), followed by Hickory Christian Academy (82) and Tuscola (67).

Sam Rhein claimed three medals for the Wolverine boys, placing second in the triple jump (41-1), fourth in the shot put (39-1) and sixth in the long jump (19-7.5).
Danny Bradley finished sixth in the 300 meters (37.67) and eighth in the 55 meters (6.93). Jesse Moore placed seventh in the long jump (18-3) and 10th in the 55 meters (7.02).
For the girls, Renee Bright took eighth in the 55-meter hurdles (10.97) and 12th in the 500 meters (1:32.33). Brianna Dyson finished 11th in the shot put (21-4), Leah Dotson placed 12th (20-9), and Minda McComas took 14th (19-7).
Alaysia Hamrick placed 12th in the 55 meters (8.38) and Adrianne Dyson finished 20th (9.13). Dotson placed eighth in the long jump (11-9.5), and Manuela Sanchez finished 10th (9-11).
Landers Moss-Barnhart took ninth in the shot put (32-0). Khloe Kitchen finished 16th in the 1,600 meters (6:56.21) and Kendra Kitchen placed 14th in the 1,000 (5:20.76).
The boys 4×800 relay team and girls 4×800 relay placed second. Jayvin Clark finished eighth in the pole vault (8-0), Caleb Young tied for 11th (7-0), and Austin Martin tied for 13th (7-0).
