Bradley, Sanchez multi-event winners as Polk Middle opens track and field season
Polk County Middle opened its 2021 track and field season on Tuesday, participating in a three-team meet at East Henderson High School.
The Wolverine boys placed second with 41 points, trailing Flat Rock Middle’s 69 points but ahead of Hendersonville Middle. The Polk Middle girls were a close third with 43 points, just eight points behind both Flat Rock Middle and Hendersonville Middle.
The Wolverines had two athletes with multiple events wins. For the Polk boys, Lorenzo Sanches won both the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump. Wolverine Mia Bradley lead a 1-2-3 Polk finish in both the 800 and 1600-meter runs.
Blake Anderson won the 800-meter run for the Polk boys, who also won the 4×100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay. Isabella Gates won the 110 hurdles, Gabby Savaia won the 200-meter run and the Polk girls also won the 4×400-meter relay.
Polk Middle will return to action on Thursday at G.M. Tennant Stadium as Hendersonville and Apple Valley visit for a Blue Ridge Conference tri-meet.
