Polk County jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning on RBI hits from Tessnair, Kinsley Lancaster, Camdyn Israel-Garrett and Kendall Taylor. But Andrews answered with four runs in the bottom of the first to make it 6-4, then pulled within 7-6 after two innings.

The Wolverines added a run in the fifth as Garrett singled and courtesy runner AJ Jackson scored on a two-out error. Polk then pushed the lead back to 10-6 in the sixth as Scruggs and Tory Coile led off the inning with base hits. Junie Mitchell followed with an RBI single to left field that scored both runners and extended the lead to 10-6.

Andrews (0-10) scored twice in the seventh to make it 10-8, but Tessnair struck out the final batter to seal the win.

Kinsley Lancaster finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases, and Israel-Garrett and Taylor each drove in two runs. Coile, Mitchell, Taylor Lancaster and Aubrey Bell also had hits for Polk County.

Polk County (1-15) travels to Avery on Tuesday.
