Polk County Middle rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to edge Brevard Middle 4-3 in Thursday’s Blue Ridge Conference softball game in Brevard.
Trailing 2-1 entering the seventh, Polk Middle (7-3) evened the score with two outs when Kaydence Cole singled, Adalyn Painter walked and Kayla Hayford doubled to center field, driving home Cole. Kenzie Alm followed with a two-run single to give the Wolverines a 4-2 lead.
Brevard Middle (5-6) pulled within 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh when a runner scored on a groundout, but Aubrey Champion induced a flyout to end the game and earn the win.

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but Polk Middle evened the score in the fifth with two outs when Hayford doubled and scored on Alm’s single.
Hayford paced Polk Middle at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and two doubles. Alm finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Cole, Champion, Kali Masters and Maddie Jolley each had one hit.
The Wolverines hosts Hendersonville Middle on Monday.
