Rugby Middle scored four runs in the first inning and rolled to a 15-2 victory over Polk County Middle in Wednesday’s Blue Ridge Conference softball game featuring the BRC East Division co-leaders.
The loss dropped Polk Middle to 4-2 overall, while Rugby Middle improved to 6-0.
Polk Middle took a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Kenzie Alm singled, stole second and third, then scored on a steal of home. Rugby Middle answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take control.

The Raiders added one run in the second, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth to invoke the mercy rule.
Alm and Maddie Jolley each had one hit for Polk Middle. Jolley drove in the Wolverines’ second run in the fifth inning with an RBI single that scored Kali Masters.
Polk Middle travels to Hendersonville Middle on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. game.
