Camdyn Israel-Garrett drove in four runs and had two hits in Monday's win

Polk County Middle returned Monday from spring break in the most authoratative of manners.

The Wolverines exploded for 10 runs in the top of the first inning en routeto a 17-10 win at Hendersonville Middle in Blue Ridge Conference softball action.

Polk Middle (4-1-1) jumped out to a quick lead in the first on Camdyn Isreal-Garrett’s two-run double. Three straight hit batters with the bases loaded made it 5-0 before Kenzie Alm singled in a run to up the lead to 6-0.

Four bases-loaded walks helped the Wolverines continue to build their margin and cap the 10-run opening frame.

The Wolverines added four more runs in the second inning on AJ Jackson’s RBI double, an error on Alm’s fly ball to center and Israel-Garrett’s two-run single.

The Bearcats came to life in the bottom of the second, scoring nine runs to cut the Polk advantage to 14-9. But the top of the third brought two more Wolverine runs as Minda McComas and Olivia Burrell singled and scored on Jackson’s base hit.

The Wolverines added one more run in the fifth on Amiyah Waters’ one-out single.

Israel-Garrett finished 2-for-4 with four RBI, with Jackson 2-for-4 with three RBI and Waters 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
