Blue Devils snap Wolverines’ winning streak with shutout victory

1 min read

Polk County Middle School’s offensive juggernaut was silenced Thursday as Brevard Middle handed the Wolverines their first loss in six games, prevailing 4-0 in a key Blue Ridge Conference East Division matchup.

The Blue Devils (5-2) scored once in the first inning, adding insurance runs in the fifth and sixth frames to secure the victory over the second-place Wolverines (6-2), who had been averaging 19 runs per game during their five-game winning streak.

Lucy Tessnair delivered a strong pitching performance for Polk Middle, allowing just six hits while striking out six batters across six innings of work. However, the Wolverines’ normally potent offense couldn’t break through against Brevard’s pitching.

The Wolverines will look to start a new winning streak when they host Flat Rock Middle on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Polk County Recreation Complex.
