
Polk Middle offense sparkles in rout at Apple Valley
Polk County Middle piled up plenty of runs Thursday.
The Wolverines romped to a 24-5 victory over Apple Valley Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference softball game in Hendersonville.
Polk Middle improved to 1-5 with the win. Apple Valley remains winless for the season.
How it happened: The Knights grabbed an early 3-0 lead, but the Wolverines exploded for nine runs in the second inning, then added another in the third and led 10-5 after three.
A five-run fourth inning set the stage for another nine-run rally in the fifth that secured an early ending to the game by run rule.
At the plate: Audrey Bell finished for-4 and scored two runs while Sofie Abrahamsen finished 4-for-5 and scored four runs.
Minda McComas, Kimber Palmer and Ava Evans each finished 3-for-5, with Abby Pruitt and Emma Hayford each lacing two hits.
Kinsley Lancaster and Lucy Tessnair each added a hit.
Next up: Polk County Middle will host Bethel Middle on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Polk County Recreation Complex.
