Polk County’s football team returned to the practice field on Monday as preseason practice officially opened for all fall sports teams.

The Wolverines hit the field Monday afternoon for a brisk workout on what head coach Bruce Ollis called the best weather for an opening day of practice in his forty-plus years of coaching.

Polk County will continue working this week in T-shirts and shorts until Thursday, when the team can add shoulder pads. The team will hold its first contact action of the season on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Polk will host the Wolverine Jamboree on August 11, travel August 13 to Hendersonville for a scrimmage with Eastside before opening the regular season on August 20 at home against Newton-Conover.
