Polk County’s boys golf team started their Mountain Foothills 7 Conference campaign Thursday with a promising second-place finish at Tryon Country Club.

The Wolverines posted a team score of 180 over the nine-hole competition, comfortably ahead of R-S Central (184), Chase (195) and Hendersonville (202), but 21 strokes behind East Rutherford’s 159.
