Former Polk County standout Antonio Simpson is bringing his football talents back to the area.
After recently announcing his decision to leave the Benedict College football program and enter college football’s transfer portal, Simpson posted Wednesday on X that he will be attending Brevard College to continue his athletic and academic career.
“I will be (shutting) down my recruitment,” the statement read. “And with that, proud to announce that I’ll be continuing my journey at Brevard College! Huge thank you to Coach Vic (Steven Victoriano) and Coach (Javian) Byrd for the opportunity. Let’s get to work.”

Simpson redshirted his first season at Benedict, then saw limited action last season as a defensive back, recording seven tackles.
The Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Player of the Year as a senior at Polk, Simpson finished as the school’s all-time leading wide receiver with 2,513 yards, also setting records for yards in a game and season, and earned selection to the East-West All-Star Game.
Brevard College finished 6-4 last season. The Tornados open their season at home on Sept. 12 against Sewanee.
