Polk County concludes four-year run in Mountain Foothills 7

So long, Mountain Foothills 7 Conference.

Polk County’s girls soccer matches Tuesday evening at Brevard marked the final official conference date for the Wolverine athletic program. Polk County will move to the Western Highlands Conference next season as part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s upcoming realignment.

Polk will depart the MF7 with five regular-season conference championships as well as two tournament titles. Those include:

2022: Volleyball regular season
2023: Boys golf regular season
2024: Wrestling tournament
2024: Volleyball regular season
2025: Girls basketball regular season
2025: Girls basketball tournament

The MF7 will actually cease to exist after this season. Its current members will relocate to:

  • Chase – Western Piedmont 3A/4A
  • East Rutherford – Western Piedmont 3A/4A
  • Hendersonville – Western Highlands 2A/3A
  • Patton – Western Piedmont 3A/4A
  • Polk County – Western Highlands 2A/3A
  • R-S Central – Western Piedmont 3A/4A
