
Polk County once again has the top athletic program in the Western Highlands Conference.
For the third straight year, Polk County High School has claimed the Wells Fargo Conference Cup for the Western Highlands Conference. The Wells Fargo program recognizes all-around athletic excellence by awarding points based on conference finish and participation for all varsity sports.
Polk County comfortably outdistanced Owen to win the 2020-21 Cup. The Wolverines won or shared conference championship in six sports.
Avery finished third in the Conference Cup standings, followed by Mountain Heritage, Mitchell and Madison.
Polk County teams earning at least a share of a WHC championship this season included:
- Boys Golf
- Football
- Boys Tennis
- Girls Tennis
- Girls Track and Field
- Volleyball
Polk County also finished second in baseball, boys cross country, girls cross country, girls golf, boys soccer and girls soccer.
