Polk County athletic slate for Thursday postponed

All Polk County athletic events slated for Thursday have been postponed due to ongoing poor road conditions caused by this week’s winter storm.

Events involving Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School teams will not be played Thursday. The latest information on each:

• Polk County High School’s basketball games at home against Chase have been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 7.
• Polk County’s wrestling matches at Patton will tentatively be rescheduled for sometime after Saturday’s Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Tournament.
• Polk County Middle’s basketball and wrestling matches with Rugby Middle are postponed. Schools in the Blue Ridge Conference will meet Thursday morning to discuss options for rescheduling this week’s missed events.

As of now, the MF7 wrestling tourney will still be held Saturday and Polk County High’s scheduled basketball games on Saturday at home against Patton will also be played as scheduled.
