Polk bass fishers open tournament season at Lake Hartwell

Polk County High School’s bass fishing team opened the 2025-26 Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail season Saturday with a pair of finishes in the top 90 at Lake Hartwell.

The tournament featured more than 100 teams competing in the first event of the season.

Polk County’s top finishers were Konner Huskey and Wyatt Highsmith, who placed 59th with a total weight of 4.97 pounds. Dakota Casturao finished 88th individually with 1.64 pounds.

Franklin County (Ga.) High School claimed the tournament victory. The team of Brody Kellum and Landon Moore brought five fish to the scales totaling 15.72 pounds to earn first place.
