Polk County athletes will begin Tuesday the final stretch of postseason competition for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The Wolverine wrestling squad will compete beginning at 9 a.m. in the 1A West Regional at Robbinsville High School while Polk County’s baseball squad hosts North Moore at 6 p.m. in the first round of the state 1A playoffs.

Wrestlers who have qualified to compete Tuesday for Polk County include:

The Wolverine baseball squad (8-6) will enter state playoff action with the game at The Bottoms against the Mustangs (8-4), the third seed from the Yadkin Valley Conference. The game will be streamed via the NFHS Network for those that cannot attend.

Still to come later this week is the 1A West girls tennis regional, set for Friday at Elkin High School. Polk senior Julia Griffin will compete in singles while fellow seniors Kristen Hall and Sara Muse take part in doubles competition.

Polk County athletes will also be in action on Friday at the 1A West Track and Field Regional at Cherokee High School. That meet will begin at 10:30 a.m.
