The second-place showing earned Sunday by Polk County Volleyball Club’s 16 team perhaps didn’t reflect just how well the team played.

PCVC’s team, comprised of players in grades 7-11, competed in the 15/16 Blue division at the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League’s Spring Madness tourney in Spartanburg. The Blue division features the top teams in the age group, with 16 teams battling in the class.

Yet PCVC rolled undefeated into the championship game, without dropping a set, before falling 25-14, 25-21 to Stars 16 Scout, a Spartanburg-based squad that includes current Polk County player Lexi Beiler.
