NCHSAA to allow schools to move to Phase Two of workout guidelines

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association will allow member schools to move into Phase Two of its offseason workout guidelines effective August 3.

In Phase Two, the key following regulations will be in effect:

  • Sharing of equipment is permissible within small groups/pods.
  • Athletic equipment, including balls, must be cleaned frequently and prior to use by another pod rather than after each individual use. There are sport-specific guidelines, but the crux of each is that equipment can now be shared within a pod providing that equipment is cleaned frequently and before use by another pod.

Schools have also been reminded to follow all heat and humidity guidelines due to current conditions.

The full NCHSAA offseason guidelines can be found here.

The start of the fall athletic season remains at least September 1, with the first five student days of the school year designated as a dead period for all sports.
