Local roundup: Polk JVs fall at Owen

Polk County dropped a 26-6 decision Thursday to Owen in junior varsity football action in Swannanoa.

The Wolverines fell to 1-3 overall, 1-1 in Western Highlands Conference games, with the loss.

Polk County travels Thursday to Chase for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. That game will be streamed live via the NFHS Network.

POLK MIDDLE FOOTBALL: Rugby built a 16-0 halftime lead and went on to post a 24-0 win Thursday over Polk County Middle in Blue Ridge Conference football action in Mills River.

Rugby improved to 3-1 with the win while Polk Middle dropped to 1-3.

The Wolverines conclude their regular season on Thursday, hosting Hendersonville Middle at 4:30 p.m.

POLK COUNTY SOFTBALL: Polk County dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 12-1 loss Wednesday at East Henderson.

The Wolverines will open Western Highlands Conference play and make their home debut on Monday as Madison visits. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

POLK MIDDLE SOFTBALL: Polk County Middle fell 9-3 at Hendersonville Middle in Blue Ridge Conference play on Wednesday.

The Wolverines are now 0-2 after the defeat.

Polk Middle continues its schedule on Monday, hosting Flat Rock Middle in a 4 p.m. game at Polk County Recreation Complex.

POLK MIDDLE GIRLS SOCCER: Hendersonville Middle handed Polk County Middle a 6-1 setback Wednesday in a Blue Ridge Conference match in Hendersonville.

The Wolverines dropped to 0-2 with the loss.

Polk Middle opens its home schedule on Monday as Flat Rock visits for a 4 p.m. encouter at Utz Field.
