
JV roundup: Polk baseball, girls soccer teams drop road outings
Chase broken open a close game Tuesday with a 10-run third inning, leading to a 14-0 victory over Polk County in a junior varsity baseball game in Forest City.
The Trojans moved to 5-1 with the win. Polk County dropped to 0-3.
Chase pushed across two runs in the first inning and another in the second before the big 10-run outburst in the third.
Polk County had just two hits in the game, those being doubles from Aaron Jackson and Piercen Edwards.
The two teams meet again Wednesday at 4 p.m. at The Bottoms.
Polk girls fall: Polk County’s junior varsity dropped a 3-1 decision to East Burke in a non-conference girls soccer game played Tuesday at Patton.
The Wolverines grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Cassidy Ash scored on an assist from Leah Dotson. But the Cavaliers responded with one goal late in the first half, then two second-half goals to secure the win.
Maggie Johnson had five saves for Polk County.
The Wolverines (0-2) are next scheduled to play March 27 at Hendersonville.
