Polk County Bass Fishing’s Wyatt Highsmith and Konnor Huskey made program history Saturday, finishing third in the Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail event at Clarks Hill Lake.
The third-place finish marked the best result in Polk County Bass Fishing history and the program’s first podium finish.
Highsmith and Huskey brought in five fish weighing 17.89 pounds, including a big fish of 4.93 pounds, in a field of more than 160 teams.

Cole Dobbs and Drake Smith of Hamilton Career & Technology Center in Oconee County won the event with a total catch of 19.39 pounds. Chapman’s Elijah Wylie and Gibson Huntley placed second with 19.24 pounds.
Polk County’s Dakota Casturao placed 109th with four fish totaling 6.85 pounds.
Huskey and Highsmith will compete in the season-ending Classic tournament May 1-2 on Lake Hartwell.
