Polk County graduate Kristen Hall has been named the Western Highlands Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

It marks the fourth straight year that a Polk County student-athlete has won the award, given annually to one male and one female who excel both in the classroom and on the field of play.

Hall graduated summa cum laude this year from PCHS. She earned all-conference honors in three sports – volleyball, basketball and tennis, where she and doubles partner Sara Muse won the WHC championship and advanced to the 1A West Regional.

PCHS athletic director Rex Wells noted that it was common to see Hall studying as she waited for practice and also doing so on the bus will traveling to away matches.

Hall plans to attend North Carolina State this fall.
