Foothills Gymnastics Academy kicked off its competition season on Dec. 10, taking part in the Winter Invitational in Greenville.
ScottLynn Whiteside represented FGA at the AAU Xcel Silver level. Genevieve Ard, Anna-Carlisle Keim, Hallee Mathis and Kylie Whitinger participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Sherlyn Trejo competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.
Whiteside earned the second highest all-around score of the session with 36.725 from her first on beam with 9.55, second on bar with 9.35, second on floor with 8.8 and third on vault with 9.025.

Ard earned first all-around with her 36.4 all-around from her first on bars with 9.35, first on beam with 9.125, first on floor with 9.125 and tied for third with 8.8 on vault.
Keim achieved second place all-around with 36.125 from her first on bars with 9.4, tied for first on floor with 9.0, second on beam with 8.975, and second on vault with 8.75.
Mathis earned third all around with 34.75 all-around from her tie for first on floor with 9.0, third on beam with 8.7, third on vault with 8.575 and third on bar with 8.7.
FGA’s Xcel Gold team won the second place team award. For Xcel platinum, Trejo earned first place all-around with 35.75 from her first on bars with 9.5, first on floor with 9.050, second on beam with 8.5 and third vault on 8.7.
Despite tough judging for the first competition of their season, FGA coaches are proud of the gymnasts and look forward to their growth throughout the season.
