Ex-PCHS standout Peoples named to Southern Conference 100th Anniversary squad

Former Polk County standout Seth Peoples has been named to the Southern Conference 100th Anniversary cross country squad.

The SoCon selected athletes for its anniversary teams for all sports based on the following criteria:

  • Member of SoCon Hall of Fame (for primary sport)
  • National champion
  • All-America in two different academic years
  • SoCon Male Athlete of the Year
  • Two-time SoCon Runner of the Year
  • Two-time SoCon meet champion

Peoples was a three-time all-conference runner at Appalachian State. He was the league’s cross country freshman of the year in 1994, when he qualified for the NCAA Championships. He twice placed in the top five in the league’s championship meet.

He was named to the 1995 NCAA Southeast All-Region cross country squad.

Peoples also won the 5000-meter run at the 1997 SoCon indoor track championships and was the 1995 indoor track freshman of the year as well as the 1995 outdoor track freshman of the year.

Peoples currently serves as the head cross country and track and field coach at Grimsley High School in Greensboro. He is the son of Polk County head cross country and track and field coach Alan Peoples.
