Polk County's Amberlyn Scruggs

Dates for a number of Polk County athletic events during the next few weeks have been put in place.

A look at each date by sport:

FOOTBALL: Polk County’s non-conference game at Draughn will be played Saturday at 6 p.m.

Draughn asked to move the game due to playing Madison on Tuesday in a game that had to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 protocols.

That means the Wildcats will play three games in nine days, having defeated Rosman on Friday, then facing Madison on Tuesday and Polk County on Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL: Polk County will open play in the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference tournament on Monday at R-S Central.

The Wolverines received the fifth seed in the conference tourney and will travel to the No. 4 Hilltoppers. The match will begin at 5 p.m.

The winner will face No. 1 Brevard in the semifinals.

Polk County will also open play in the state 2A volleyball tournament on Saturday, with pairings to be announced on Thursday.

CHEERLEADING: Polk County’s competitive cheerleading squad will take part in the Piedmont Regional on Nov. 6 in Kannapolis.

The event will be held at A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis.

Polk County will also compete in the Carolina Classic in Greensboro on Nov. 20.
