Athletes from Polk County’s indoor track team made their final trip Saturday to JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem in advance of next month’s state meet, competing in perhaps the largest indoor field of the season at the Fast Track High School Invitational.
More than 1,200 competitors were registered for the meet, one of the final qualifiers before the state indoor championships on Feb. 13-14.

Often competing against athletes from some of the state’s largest schools, Polk County’s squad fared well at the meet, with three relay squads earning top-10 finishes as well as Sean Doyle’s eighth-place effort in the 1000-meter run. Hanna O’Brien, running alone, won the girls 55-meter amputee dash.
