A change in venue didn’t mean a change in result for Polk County’s girls tennis team.
The Wolverines made their home debut on Thursday and did so in convincing manner, sweeping Patton 9-0 in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match.
Polk County (4-0, 1-0) remained undefeated and did so in dominant fashion, easily winning all nine mstches. Bella Sheffron’s 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles was the closest individual encounter of the day, with all other singles players dropping no more than one game in their two-set wins.

The Wolverines won without head coach Tracy Becker, who missed the match for medical reasons. Assistant coach Mandy Wolfe guided the team in Becker’s absence.
Polk County is set to continue conference play on Tuesday, remaining at home to face East Rutherford in a 4 p.m. match.
