Hendersonville maintained its perfect conference record Wednesday, defeating Polk County 7-1 in Western Highlands Conference tennis action at Polk County.
The Bearcats (8-2, 6-0) maintained their perfect conference record behind dominant singles play, winning five of six individual matches. The victory strengthens Hendersonville’s position atop the WHC standings.
Polk County’s Cate Brown provided a bright spot for the Wolverines (4-5, 4-3), earning a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Anna MacDowell in the No. 1 singles match. However, Hendersonville’s depth proved too much as the Bearcats swept matches two through six.

Sophia Gallian set the tone for Hendersonville’s run with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Paige White at No. 2 singles, while Canaan Scroggs followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3. Ariya Vann, Katherine Canning and Elizabeth Shaffer each recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the remaining singles matches.
In doubles play, Hendersonville claimed the two matches. The Bearcats’ duo of Vann and Canning won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, while Scroggs and Shaffer completed the victory with a 6-0 win in the third position. The No. 1 doubles match was not played.
Polk County will look to bounce back Thursday when the Wolverines host Owen in their regular season finale.
