Polk County’s sterling girls tennis season came to an end Monday in the state 1A quarterfinals.

The Wolverines dropped a 5-1 decision to undefeated Mount Airy, the Granite Bears wrapping up the match win during singles competition.

Polk County sees its season end with an 11-3 record. All six players who stepped onto Mount Airy’s courts on Monday will return next season, setting the stage for another outstanding season for the Wolverines.

Polk does say goodbye to seniors Allie Quoyle, Rosie LaFauci and Anna Jackson.

Mount Airy improved to 23-0 overall. Brown’s win at No. 6 singles marked just the eighth individual match loss for the Granite Bears this season.
