Polk County’s girls tennis team picked up another win Monday, handing East Rutherford a 7-2 setback in a non-conference match at Polk.
The Wolverines clinched the match during singles play, winning five of the day’s six matchups. Among the winners was Tana Harris, who knocked off previously unbeaten Hannah Scruggs 10-7 at No. 1 singles.
Julia Griffin, Sara Muse and Ava Marino each had easy wins while Madi Pruette claimed a 10-4 victory at No. 5 singles to secure the win.
“Really good win today over a scrappy opponent,” said Polk County head coach Richard Davis. “Most of the scores were close early on and involved some intense points.
“Madi Pruette continues to give us wins at the number five position, which have been huge thus far.”
Polk County will return to the courts on Thursday, hosting Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference match at 3:30 p.m.
