Polk’s Livesay earns berth in state 2A tennis tournament

Polk County’s Alivia Livesay won both of her matches Friday at the 2A Western Regional tennis tournament at Gardner-Webb, earning a berth in next weekend’s state 2A tournament.

Livesay, seeded second in the regional, earned a 6-2 win in her first-round match, then a 6-0 win to ensure a top-four finish and a state tourney berth.

Livesay then returned to Gardner-Webb on Saturday morning with the three remaining players to determine the regional champion and seeds for the state event. Livesay split two matches on Saturday and will be the third seed from the regional.
